All About ArtiCulture
Mission
To educate, enrich, and nurture through the visual arts.
Vision
ArtiCulture has established a tradition of offering interactive opportunities that place emphasis on the creative process—the act of making art. We offer classes and workshops for ages 1 year through adults; ongoing projects that support community development through creativity; and programs that aim to increase accessibility to the arts. The outcome is an experience for participants, amateur and expert alike, that meets both the artistic and social needs of the community.
History
Started in 2000, ArtiCulture germinated in the minds and hearts of a handful of local artists and community members who felt there was a void in local visual arts programming. ArtiCulture started small and offered children's art day camps and adult classes held in a church basement.
After the addition of toddler/preschool classes and expanded educational opportunities for children and adults, ArtiCulture grew rapidly. This necessitated an upgrade so ArtiCulture moved to a storefront in the Longfellow neighborhood.
Over time, ArtiCulture started to implement a number of community-based projects and programs. In addition, the former dentist office turned art studio was too small to keep up with our growing number of students.
In 2008 ArtiCulture moved to the present location in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. As a result, we've expanded educational opportunities for all ages, continued to facilitate community-based outreach projects, implemented a small gallery, and offer a retail space that features art supplies and local artists.
